Now Hiring: Qualified Spray Painter

At WD Autobody & Restorations, we don’t just paint cars, we restore history. From classic icons, muscle machines and rare historic racers, every project is about precision and pride. We’re looking for an experienced Automotive Spray Painter to join our Reviving History team in Dromana. If you’ve got the skills, the eye for detail, and a love for classics, this is your chance to be part of something special.


🔧 What You’ll Be Doing


  • Bringing classics, muscle cars, and vintage icons back to life with flawless finishes
  • Colour matching, mixing and applying coatings (2Pac, 2K solid, basecoat, acrylic, enamel)
  • Prepping, masking, priming, and polishing to perfection
  • Working closely with the Paint Shop Manager and contributing to a team of restorers
  • Occasionally liaising with customers and sharing in their excitement
  • Keeping the workflow in our paint & colour mixing room running smoothly


🎯 What We’re Looking For

  • A qualified spray painter/refinisher 
  • A portfolio that shows pride in your work and a perfectionist’s eye for detail
  • Strong colour-matching skills and knowledge of materials, paints, and techniques
  • Bonus points if you’ve restored vintage/classic vehicles before
  • A team player with good humour, reliability, and strong communication
  • Must hold Australian/NZ residency, citizenship, or valid work visa
  • Current driver’s licence

Kickstart Your Career in Car Restoration with WD Autobody


We are a family-run car restoration workshop in Dromana, known for turning heads with our bold innovation, precision craftsmanship, and genuine care for our clients.


We’re on the hunt for a driven Apprentice Panel Beater to join our "Reviving History" team.


If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and work on everything from iconic classics to high-end luxury and prestige cars, this is your chance to learn real skills, get hands-on experience, and grow alongside industry professionals.


Duties

  • Collaborate with the Panel Shop Manager to assist in the repair and restoration of customer cars
  • Learn essential panel beating techniques including shaping, welding, and fabrication
  • Use power tools and hand tools to file, grind, and sand repaired surfaces
  • General stripping of vehicles and assembling
  • Perform thorough cleaning of customer vehicles, both interior and exterior
  • Moving Cars in and out of the workshop
  • Be an integral part of a creative, dynamic team, gaining hands-on experience with real projects

About You

  • Passionate about the automotive industry, particularly in panel beating
  •  A genuine love and respect for classic cars. Skills can be taught, passion can’t. (1st, 2nd or 3rd year of the Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology or Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology. Advantageous)
  • A good sense of humour and positive attitude
  •  Dedicated to completing a 4 year apprenticeship and training , including studies with a renowned training provider
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, with a strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude
  • A reliable team player with strong communication skills
  • Well-presented and able to work effectively within a close-knit team
  • Values honesty, reliability, and punctuality
  • Permanent resident or have appropriate Australian working rights

Requirements

  • Commitment to completing a 4 year in house TAFE apprenticeship
  • Good work ethic and attitude
  • Flexibility and willingness to perform a variety of tasks
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new skills
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Awareness of OH&S requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
