1977 BMW 633 CSI

In 2019, our customer came across this 1977 BMW 633 CSI, an iconic classic that instantly caught his eye. The seller offered what seemed like a fantastic deal, but there was a catch, the car didn’t come with a roadworthy certificate. Believing it was still a great opportunity, he went ahead and purchased it.

Determined to get it back on the road, he took it for a roadworthy inspection to assess what was needed. A mechanic then conducted a more thorough check, and that’s when the shocking reality was uncovered. Beneath layers of filler and bog, the car was hiding severe rust, so extensive that the floor had completely rusted away. The previous owner had concealed the damage so well that only a trained eye in our trade would notice. While the original inspection report provided by the seller did mention rust, it failed to disclose the true extent of the decay.

Despite this major setback, selling the car was never an option. A BMW like this, with its distinct design and commanding road presence, was worth saving. So, rather than giving it up, the customer stored it away in a shed.

In 2023, he brought the car into WD Autobody for rust repair, panel fabrication, and a fire wall replacement. Once those restoration works were completed, it was sent across to Creative Custom Cars to handle the mechanical side of the build.

Now, after nearly six years of ownership, the BMW is finally back where it belongs, on the road wearing its club plates with pride. It's out cruising on weekends and turning heads once again. Friends and family are thrilled with the result, and every bit of effort that went into the transformation has paid off. It’s looking sharp for now, but who knows, maybe a full respray is still to come down the track.
