1980 BMW E24 JPS GROUP C TOURING CAR

The JPS Team BMW 635 CSI Group C is a legendary race car with a storied history that continues to captivate motorsport enthusiasts worldwide. 

Originally designed by BMW Motorsport for the 1980 European Touring Car Championship, this iconic machine was raced by a dedicated privateer team and quickly became a symbol of racing excellence.

In early 1981, Allan Grice Racing acquired the BMW 635 CSI, backed by BMW Australia and significant financial support from John Player. This acquisition marked the beginning of an exciting transformation. Under the expert guidance of Frank Gardiner, the car was meticulously upgraded to Group C specification. The once standard BMW was reimagined with a striking black livery adorned with bold gold logos, signifying BMW’s official entry into Australian motorsport.

The restoration journey was extensive and meticulous. The car underwent a complete overhaul to meet the rigorous standards of Group C heritage touring racing.
